We are looking for an ambitious and dedicated candidate to join us at our offices in Kensington. The Associate position entails tasks related to investment analysis for venture capital and private equity opportunities for clients of Shellbay (including Agronomics and New Agrarian), including industry sector research, report design, financial statement analysis, company valuations, due diligence execution as well as activities related to portfolio management and reporting including by not limited to, monthly and quarterly portfolio company performance reviews and preparation of documentation for investor reporting.

Agronomics is a listed investment company with an established portfolio of over 20 companies in the field of cellular agriculture including precision fermentation, cell culture and enabling technology. We believe these technologies are essential for the creation of a more sustainable, ethical and secure food system.

Responsibilities
  • Execution of company, sector and industry analysis outlining company revenue tractions, EBITDA pathways, major milestones as well as competitive and comparative advantages, 5-Forces, PESTEL, etc.
  • Analysis of Financial Statements and building of financial models in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS; development of 3-statement forecasts, depreciation schedules, ESOP analysis, etc.
  • Development of company and portfolio valuations including public and transaction comps analysis and pricing, forward-looking WACC determination, etc.
  • Review and Analysis of Legal and Subscription documents and assembly of detailed sequential capitalisation tables, etc.
  • Preparations of presentations to the Investment Committee/Board of Directors of Shellbay clients
  • Maintenance and continued development of portfolio management and reporting including risk assessment of single portfolio holdings, sub-sector expose analysis and total portfolio risk
  • Attending Board, portfolio company, investors calls representing the Shellbay and clients as required from time-to-time
  • Ensure timely reporting of portfolio companies and performance metrics as well as the management of the end of year audit and preparation for annual shareholder’s meeting and required filings with shareholders and regulators
  • Liaise with third-party service providers (attorneys, consultants, etc.) to support investment transactions
  • Other investment and operational tasks
Qualifications
  • Eligible to work in the UK and from the London offices (located on Kensington Highstreet)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Science or similar
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in VC, Private Equity, Banking, Finance, or Accounting
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to work flexible hours and across time zones
  • Advanced financial modeling skills and good knowledge of standard office software
  • Familiarity with industry data providers, such as Pitchbook, Bloomberg, etc.
