The predicted salary is between 50000 - 70000 € per year.
You will be part of the investment team at Balderton, working closely with our team to provide detailed research on new technology sectors, meet entrepreneurs and identify the most promising technology businesses coming out of Europe. The role will be based in our Kings Cross offices in London.
Responsibilities will vary week by week and will be influenced by you and a Partner you will work with directly. You can expect the role to divide roughly into:
- 70% lead deep-dives into new technology sectors: Work closely with one of our Partners to research and then develop our thesis in emerging technology markets. Attend industry events, meet relevant entrepreneurs and experts. Work with existing research tools as well as help us develop new insights and processes using our data and AI infrastructure. Identify promising investments in the sector. Present your findings to the team, and stay up to date with developments in that sector over time.
- 15% evaluate new investments: Support with rapid initial screening of businesses for investment potential. Provide detailed analysis / due diligence as we move closer to a deal, including market and competitive analysis, customer references and financial modelling.
- 15% support Balderton’s portfolio companies and the fund generally: Support portfolio companies on specific projects and research in your areas of expertise. Represent the firm in public and online through public research and events. Support internal events and processes in your area of expertise.
The expectation is that the role will be for a 2 year period. Previous analysts have moved on to more senior positions with the firm, started their own ventures and joined high growth technology companies.
Preferred Candidates: Passion for emerging technologies & startups, demonstrated by deep sectoral knowledge, regular reading, knowledge of popular commentators, companies and experts. 2+ years of experience and training in a Tier-1 financial or strategy institution, or proven skills in these areas through start-up experience or personal learning. Evidence of entrepreneurial and startup interest, and ideally some first-hand experience of the start-up space. Excellent degree from top-tier University.
Important Details: We are able to sponsor UK work visas. Base salary and bonus are in-line with other roles in the finance and consulting industry with 2-3 years of experience.
