We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring full time VCA to join our team on a 6-month fixed term contract. As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play a vital role within our practice team, supporting our Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Student Nurses, and Receptionists in delivering outstanding care to both our patients and their owners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring a clean and hygienic environment across all clinical and non-clinical areas of the practice
- Cleaning, maintaining, and restocking medical equipment
- Sterilising veterinary instruments to required standards
- Supporting the front desk with reception duties
- Assisting with pharmacy tasks, including stock rotation and unpacking orders
- Helping with the preparation and processing of in-house laboratory samples
- Providing safe and effective animal handling
- Assisting veterinary professionals with a variety of inpatient care tasks

We are a single site practice in the lovely Beds/Bucks border. For a veterinary nurse there\’s no such thing as the perfect job, but it\’s perfectly possible to get close. The right job needs to tick a lot of boxes including colleagues and management who\’ll willingly lend a hand when you\’re stretched and lend an ear when you\’ve had a tough day including 3 fully trained Mental Health First Aiders. Our practice ethos focuses on doing the right thing, providing gold standard care to both pets and clients. We have excellent, confident RVNs and Vets with outstanding front of house support. Our team includes 6 brilliant Vets, 9 fantastic RVNs and we are a nurse training practice. We have 5 fabulous Front of House staff plus our support staff. RCVS accredited.
We\’re keen to welcome another team player with great people skills and a sense of humour who wants a new challenge in a safe and supportive environment. We are looking for someone who demonstrates empathy with clients and a desire to practice good medicine. The ability to communicate effectively is vital, we value teamwork and appreciate staff contributing ideas to improve our practice and services.
You will work approximately 37 hours a week inclusive of 1 in 4 Saturday mornings. You will be working as part of our supportive and friendly team to provide the highest level of care for our clients and their pets in the locality. No OOH duties, 1 in 4 Saturday mornings until 1pm.
