We are hiring for a Night Kennel Assistant to join our team! Pride Veterinary Centre offers a range of state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Our diagnostics and treatments are second to none and we have many highly trained and experienced colleagues to ensure that our patients receive the very best treatment. We strive to deliver world class patient care and our fantastic facilities provide a superb care environment, including 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, full advanced imaging suite, 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills and dedicated chemo & radio-iodine treatment rooms define the setting.
The kennel assistant team are at the hub of the veterinary hospital at Scarsdale Vets in Pride Park to help care for the unwell patients. The hospital ward team care for both primary and referral patients from simple to complex cases so there are a variety of patient needs to accommodate. They come in all shapes, sizes and temperaments, so every night is different to the previous one. The night team is friendly, supportive and passionate about providing the highest standard of care to our in-patients. We are always expanding our knowledge and learning new skills as training is important to us as a practice. Supporting our nursing colleagues, you will also interact with referral, first opinion vets, interns and residents.
Due to an internal move we have an opening as a Kennel Assistant. Working in the wards at Pride Veterinary Centre, this is a full-time contract on a one week on, two weeks off basis covering 6:00pm – 8:00am. Most of us love animals of all shapes and sizes but we do require applicants to clearly evidence their previous experience of working with the four-legged ones. We have been tasked to ensure the safety and comfort of all the animals in our care and we need to do that to the highest possible level, so having some similar animal experience would be a true asset. Caring for the animals on a nightly basis is a key element of the role. Maintain the cleanliness of any areas the animals have been in contact with. Being directly responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness within the ward environment, such as cleaning kennels, exercising patients, washing bowls, laundry, stock maintenance, animal handling, basic care including TPR (temperature, pulse and respiration checks), grooming, feeding and assisting the veterinary team, this is an active role.
