Head Veterinary Nurse – Taverham Veterinary Hospital

Taverham Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team at a very exciting time, as we enter the final stages of our hospital expansion.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and compassionate RVN looking to take the next step in their career. As Head Veterinary Nurse, you’ll play a key role in leading and supporting our large nursing team, helping to maintain the highest standards of patient care while shaping the continued growth and development of our hospital services.

Based at our busy first opinion and referral hospital, you’ll be able to utilise your clinical and leadership skills across a wide range of cases, with the support of a dedicated, friendly, and experienced team.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time, 38.5 hours per week
  • 4-day week, working 9.5-hour days
  • 1:8 full weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 08:20–16:00, with 30-minute lunch)
  • No out of hours or on-call

About Us

Our hospital status practice is home to state-of-the-art facilities, including a brand new CT scanner, dental suite, new canine kennels, ISFM gold-standard cat kennels, dedicated isolation facilities, and four operating theatres. We regularly perform ultrasonography, cardiology, and orthopaedic surgeries.

We are proud to be a nurse training practice, offering a structured two-year programme for new graduate vets. Many of our nurses are certificate holders or currently working towards further qualifications, with an emphasis on ongoing development and learning for the whole team.

You’ll be joining a large and talented group, including 41 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 34 Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Student Nurses, 9 Animal Nursing Assistants, and 30+ support staff. We’re a sociable and ambitious team, consistently praised in appraisals for our positive culture. Monthly team meetings and regular social events are a key part of life at Taverham.

Our practices are based in the peaceful towns of Taverham and Costessey, just 15 minutes from historic Norwich and less than an hour from some of the UK’s best beaches.
