Sheriffs Highway Vets are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and dedicated team. This role would suit an RVN who is confident working in a busy environment and comfortable working independently at a branch surgery. Full training and support will be provided to enable you to work across both our main site and branch practices.
Role and Responsibilities
Our nursing team is an integral part of the practice and is actively involved in all aspects of patient care. Duties include nurse consultations such as weight clinics, six-month health checks, nail trimming and nutrition discussions, alongside patient triage, critical care nursing, blood sampling, catheter placement, anaesthesia, radiography, laboratory and microscope work. Nurses also play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety throughout the practice.

Sheriffs Highway Vets is ideally located within easy commuting distance of Newcastle city centre, offering access to the region’s vibrant culture, as well as the beautiful North East coastline and the countryside of Durham and Northumberland. Our main practice is based in Gateshead, with additional branch surgeries in Whickham, Sunderland and Crawcrook, some of which also perform procedures. We are well equipped with modern facilities, including digital and dental radiography, flexible and rigid endoscopy, a fully equipped in-house laboratory, advanced ultrasound with Doppler and a wide range of specialised equipment to support soft tissue, orthopaedic and endoscopic surgeries.
We are committed to supporting professional development and actively encourage CPD, offering an excellent CPD budget (pro rata) along with additional staff benefits.
What We're Looking For
This position would be best suited to a highly motivated and dedicated RVN who works well as part of a team and is committed to delivering high standards of patient and client care. Working Hours
This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week. We strive to create a good work/life balance with a 4-day week work pattern and working 1:4 Saturdays.
