The Systems Engineer – High Voltage PowerTrain & Charging Systems is responsible for end-to-end systems engineering ownership of in-vehicle HVPT & Charging system features across vehicle programs. With 7 to 10 years of experience, the role focuses on requirements definition, architecture design, integration, validation, and issue resolution delivered in line with performance, safety, regulatory, and user experience objectives.

Key Objectives

  • Support delivery of reliable HVPT and Charging system features from concept through validation.
  • Ensure system requirements are clear, traceable, and verifiable.
  • Enable smooth integration of ECUs, networks, sensors, and actuators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, elicit, and document vehicle-level and system-level requirements for Powertrain and Charging system features using JAMA/DOORS.
  • Decompose vehicle-level requirements into system-level and ECU-level functional requirements.
  • Create and maintain system specifications, feature descriptions, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Design and validate Battery Pack (HV), Inverter, Motor, and On-Board Charger (OBC) requirements, including signals, messages, LIN schedules, and I/O mapping.
  • Collaborate with software, electrical, validation, and vehicle integration teams to ensure consistent feature behaviour.
  • Support supplier interactions, including requirements clarification and issue tracking.
  • Develop validation strategies, test cases, and acceptance criteria for Powertrain and Charging features.
  • Participate in bench, rig, and vehicle testing activities and lead issue investigations.
  • Track issues, actions, and requirements traceability using JIRA and related tools.
  • Ensure system implementations align with functional safety and cybersecurity expectations.

High Voltage PowerTrain & Charging Systems Domain

  • Define and maintain vehicle-level and system-level requirements and architecture for HVPT and Charging system functionalities.
  • Create and maintain Vehicle Feature Requirements (VFR), System Requirements Specifications (SysRS), functional descriptions, and use cases.
  • Strong background in HVPT systems engineering and Charging system development/testing, including:
    • Power flow and energy efficiency analysis.
    • Thermal and electrical behaviour analysis.
    • Motor-Inverter-Battery integration.
    • Drive modes, torque delivery, and regenerative braking logic.
    • AC Charging and DC Fast Charging validation.
    • Charging safety, interlocks, and fault handling.
    • Testing and validation of High Voltage Powertrain and Charging systems.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Fundamental systems engineering principles.
  • Automotive Powertrain and Charging systems electronic architectures.
  • Automotive CAN, LIN, and Ethernet networks.
  • Development and validation experience with HV Battery Packs, Inverters, Motors, and OBCs.

  • Diagnostics: UDS, DTCs.
  • Vehicle state management and power management systems.
  • Vehicle charging systems.
