Application Database Administrator – RDBMS | Derby / UK Remote
Are you an experienced Database Administrator with strong RDBMS expertise and experience within the Aerospace & Defense sector? This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of database performance, security, availability and resilience within a technically demanding environment.
About the Role
We’re looking for an Application Database Administrator – RDBMS to manage and maintain relational database systems, ensuring they remain secure, highly available and performant.
Location: Derby, UK – Remote - Inside IR35
What You'll Do
Install, configure and upgrade RDBMS platforms such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or SQL Server
Monitor database activity and carry out performance tuning and SQL optimisation
Optimise slow queries, manage indexes and allocate system resources to prevent bottlenecks
Manage database security, user roles, permissions, authentication and encryption
Schedule and manage full, differential and transaction-log backups
Test and maintain disaster recovery and database recovery procedures
Maintain data integrity, constraints and relationships between database tables
Perform routine database clean-ups and health checks
Troubleshoot operational errors and database connectivity issues
Provide on-call technical support for production alerts
Analyse database growth and support capacity planning for future storage, memory and processing requirements
What You'll Bring
Strong professional experience as a Database Administrator / RDBMS Administrator
Hands-on knowledge of relational database administration
Experience with one or more of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or SQL Server
Strong understanding of database performance, security, backup/recovery and troubleshooting
Aerospace & Defense industry experience
UK Nationality
Minimum 5 years of continuous, unbroken UK residency
