An exciting opportunity to join a leading Exposure Management team at one of Lloyd’s largest syndicates. The successful candidate will be delivering cutting edge analytics to stakeholders across the business for the D&F Property class, which has seen significant growth over the last 12 months. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to have a material impact at a top Lloyds’ syndicate and global (re)insurer.

As an analyst, you will enjoy a close working relationship with the D&F Property underwriting team and have a real ability to meaningfully influence the risk selection process. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with various internal stakeholders to ensure timely modelling analytics to support risk pricing and wider Catastrophe Management goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Active involvement in developing relationships with underwriters with the aim of integrating underwriting and Catastrophe Management goals. This involves confident and timely delivery of analytics and the ability to explain how these analytics can help drive risk selection.
  • Use RMS and various other tools to deliver market leading analysis both on individual account and portfolio basis.
  • Contribute to developing new tools and dashboards to streamline the catastrophe modelling process and build more innovative ways of displaying data.
  • Work closely with the Natural Catastrophe Management team, across different regions, to ensure close communication across the team, consistent application of view of risk and contribute to cross-region analytics.
  • Create a narrative based on the modelling data and other sources to effectively provide a valuable summary of a certain risk and give advice to Underwriters on the strengths and weaknesses of both the data and the model’s ability to provide meaningful results. This includes communicating the concept of uncertainty.
  • Working closely with underwriters to drive decision making for complex risks that fall outside of scope of vendor models including non-modelled risks.
  • Communicate risk metrics to key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Analytics and Reporting team to ensure timely delivery of data required for internal and external reporting.
Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in a Cat Modelling role – RMS experience is highly desirable and D&F Property class experience is advantageous.
  • Highly numerate and logical – strong mathematical/statistical knowledge is advantageous.
  • Excellent business communication skills – ability to influence, negotiate, and listen.
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets with strong Excel and SQL skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI for analytics is desirable.
  • Intermediate/Advanced Experience with MS SQL is a strong advantage. Ability to build/design and manipulate queries to improve process.
  • Familiarity with another programming language such as VBA, .NET, R, Python is an advantage.
