Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Stafford, VA, is seeking a full-time Daycare Director. It is our intention to open a daycare in the fall of 2026. The position of Daycare Director is open now so that the individual hired to ultimately run the daycare will be an integral part of establishing the policies, procedures, and environment for the facility. This position will have responsibility for bringing the church’s vision of the Daycare to life.
The Director will oversee and coordinate the Daycare at Ebenezer Church to meet the church’s strategic vision of transforming lives through Jesus Christ. Responsibilities include:
- Manage a daycare environment that strives to develop all areas of a child’s growth including spiritual, social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.
- Develop and maintain an effective team environment with consistent communication, team meetings, and morale-boosting activities.
- Evaluate the ability of the daycare to meet community needs and respond accordingly in conjunction with the Daycare Governing Board.
- Promote the daycare in the community through public awareness by providing information and tours to prospective parents.
- Provide effective and timely communications to parents, including creating and updating necessary forms and handbooks.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, church staff, and other community members.
- Coordinate the enrollment of children and maintain current files on each child.
- Hire classroom leads and assistants, inform Staff-Parish Relations Committee of selections and credentials, and maintain current employee files.
- Provide direction and supervision to the daycare staff, including establishing standards and expectations, approving curriculum and daily planning, and conducting yearly evaluations.
- Coordinate with all church leaders to understand KidzCare needs for church events.
- Create and maintain a safe, clean, caring, and constructive nursery environment for KidzCare Ministry.
- Create regular work schedules for KidzCare workers, integrating with Daycare staff planning.
- Maintain health and safety standards as set forth by the Virginia Department of Social Services for religious-exempt programs.
- Coordinate inspections and file paperwork with D.S.S.
- Manage the financial aspects of the daycare and utilize data from the church data management system to support decision making.
- Identify current trends in daycare management/oversight and promote new ideas to expand the scope and capabilities of Ebenezer’s Daycare.
- Continue to develop and grow personally and professionally in regard to the Christian faith.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Five years’ experience in a leadership/managerial position in a daycare, including responsibility for compliance with state regulations (preferred).
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and monitor budgets and financial resources.
- Ability to maintain CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
