About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our team, specialising in the installation, maintenance, replacement, and upgrading of electrical meters, including smart metering systems. This is a site-based role, requiring regular travel and working away from home. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality metering services while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, replace, and maintain domestic and commercial electrical meters
  • Carry out smart meter installations, upgrades, and commissioning
  • Diagnose and repair faults in metering systems
  • Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and safety standards
  • Complete accurate job reports, certification, and documentation
  • Provide excellent customer service while working in occupied premises
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
  • Work effectively within a rotating shift pattern and adapt to operational requirements

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

  • National Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 6 Advanced Certificate) or equivalent
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Safe Electric (RECI) as a Qualified Electrician
  • Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship
  • Strong understanding of the National Rules for Electrical Installations (ET101)
  • Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and fault finding
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Flexibility to work away from home and on rotating shifts

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in meter installation and smart metering programmes
  • Knowledge of AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) systems
  • Previous experience working on utility or infrastructure projects
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
