Responsibilities
- System Design: Produce detailed solar PV layouts using industry software (e.g., PVsol, OpenSolar, Helioscope), optimising for energy yield, shading, and roof constraints.

- DNO Applications: Prepare and submit G98/G99 applications, liaise with DNOs to resolve queries, and track applications through to approval.
- Technical Documentation: Generate MCS-compliant documentation packs including datasheets, performance estimates, and installation drawings.
- Site Assessment Support: Review site surveys, satellite imagery, and structural reports to inform design decisions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales, installation, and project management teams to ensure designs are buildable and meet customer expectations.
- Compliance: Ensure all designs meet current regulations (BS 7671, MCS standards, G98/G99 requirements, and local planning considerations).
Requirements
- Proven experience designing solar PV systems for residential and/or commercial projects.
- Strong working knowledge of string sizing, inverter selection, and DC system design principles.
- Hands-on experience with DNO application processes (G98/G99).
- Proficiency in solar design software (PVsol, OpenSolar, Helioscope, or similar).
- Familiarity with MCS certification requirements and UK electrical regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills able to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues and customers.
Desirable
- Electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
- Experience with battery storage system design.
- Knowledge of EV charger integration.
- CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, SketchUp).
- Understanding of structural loading considerations for roof-mounted systems.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary (based on experience).
- Flexible/hybrid working options.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
