About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our team, specialising in the installation, maintenance, replacement, and upgrading of electrical meters, including smart metering systems. This is a site-based role, requiring regular travel and working away from home. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality metering services while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, replace, and maintain domestic and commercial electrical meters
- Carry out smart meter installations, upgrades, and commissioning
- Diagnose and repair faults in metering systems
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and safety standards
- Complete accurate job reports, certification, and documentation
- Provide excellent customer service while working in occupied premises
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
- Work effectively within a rotating shift pattern and adapt to operational requirements
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- National Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 6 Advanced Certificate) or equivalent
- Registered or eligible for registration with Safe Electric (RECI) as a Qualified Electrician
- Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship
- Strong understanding of the National Rules for Electrical Installations (ET101)
- Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and fault finding
- Full, clean driving licence
- Flexibility to work away from home and on rotating shifts
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in meter installation and smart metering programmes
- Knowledge of AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) systems
- Previous experience working on utility or infrastructure projects
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
