Job purpose
The Infrastructure and Security Architect is responsible for designing, implementing and governing secure, resilient and scalable IT infrastructure. This role bridges security strategy and infrastructure architecture, ensuring that the VTX platforms, networks and systems are secure by design while supporting business performance, availability and growth.
Main responsibilities
- Architecture and Design
- Design the end-to-end infrastructure and security architectures across on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments.
- Define security by design principles and ensure they are embedded in infrastructure solutions.
- Security Architecture
- Design and maintain security controls across network, identity, endpoint, application and data layers.
- Define and enforce IAM, network segmentation, encryption and key management strategies.
- Lead threat modelling, risk assessments and security design reviews.
- Infrastructure & Cloud
- Architect scalable, highly available infrastructure (compute, storage, networking).
- Lead cloud security and infrastructure architecture (Azure).
- Define disaster recovery, backup and business continuity architectures.
- Government & Compliance
- Ensure alignment with security frameworks (ISO, NIST, Cyber Essentials and others).
- Support audits, regulatory requirements and compliance initiatives.
- Define and maintain architectural governance and technical standards.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
- Extensive experience in infrastructure, security engineering, or architecture roles.
- Technical Skills
- Infrastructure architecture (networking, compute, storage, virtualization).
- Security architecture and controls.
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.).
- Identity & access management (SSO, IAM, MFA).
- Network security (firewalls, WAF, VPN, zero-trust).
- Monitoring, logging and incident response integration.
- Certifications (not mandatory) in CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Azure Architect, etc.
- Proven experience designing secure enterprise or cloud-based platforms.
- Architectural Skills
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture frameworks.
- Systems thinking and end-to-end design.
- Risk-based decision making.
- Documentation and diagramming.
- Translating business requirements into technical architectures.
- Soft Skills
- Strong stakeholder communication.
