We are working with a leading global law firm on an in-house Technology Risk Lawyer position within their Regulatory Compliance team in London. This is a genuinely distinctive opportunity for a technology and AI regulation specialist to become the go-to lawyer on technology risk within one of the most sophisticated legal environments in the world, at a time when the firm is investing heavily in AI and new technology across its global platform.

The role sits at the centre of the firm's adoption of new technology and AI tools, acting as the first port of call in assessing the legal and regulatory risks and issues arising from their deployment. The work spans advising on the adoption and use of AI tools and platforms, contributing to AI governance frameworks and the completion of AI Impact Assessments, maintaining and developing global technology and AI policies, horizon scanning for new legal and regulatory requirements, reviewing AI language in client engagement terms and supporting responses to client AI-related due diligence and risk queries.

The role works closely with the firm's data protection specialists, commercial contracts lawyers and senior technology leadership, and offers genuine visibility with senior stakeholders. This is a role with real scope to grow, and may be the first of further hires in this space.

This position would suit a candidate with:

  • Around 3 to 4 years of post-qualified experience with a genuine focus on technology and AI regulation
  • Experience gained either in private practice or in-house, with the substance of the technology and AI regulatory experience being the priority
  • Strong knowledge of the developing AI regulatory landscape and the ability to apply it in a practical, commercially minded way
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and an interest in shaping governance, policy and training in a fast-moving area
