We are working with a leading UK law firm on a position within a growing environment and sustainability practice. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-regarded team at a genuinely exciting time for this area of law, working alongside a specialist partner who has carved out a strong market reputation in climate and sustainability regulatory advisory work.
The team sits within the firm's wider planning and environment group and focuses on the non-contentious, advisory side of environmental and climate law. The work is regulatory and commercially focused, advising clients on the evolving landscape of climate and sustainability regulation, ESG compliance frameworks, environmental law obligations, sustainability disclosures and commercial contracting in the context of environmental and climate matters.
The practice acts for clients across a broad range of sectors and engages with regulators including the Environment Agency on complex advisory mandates. This is a niche and specialist area of practice that is growing rapidly in profile and commercial significance, and the team is actively investing in its capability.
The successful candidate will work closely with the lead partner and have real involvement in matters from an early stage, with strong long-term progression opportunity.
This position would suit a candidate with:
- 4-10 years of post-qualified experience in environment, sustainability or climate law
- A focus on the regulatory and advisory side of environmental practice ideally
- Experience advising on areas such as climate and sustainability regulation, ESG compliance, environmental permitting, biodiversity, or related commercial contracting
- Strong drafting skills and the ability to provide clear, practical advice to clients on complex regulatory matters
- Experience at a law firm, professional services firm or in-house in a relevant regulatory environment
