Construction & Development Finance Solicitor
A cutting edge Legal 500 law firm is looking to recruit a Construction & Development Finance Solicitor (4+ PQE) to join its city office.
In this role you will work on a broad range of development finance matters, advising primarily lenders funding property development and construction projects.
The role offers the chance to combine non-contentious construction expertise with real estate finance and secured lending, working closely with lender clients.
The Role
The department focuses on the construction underpinning property development projects, alongside the associated finance and security arrangements. You will work directly with lenders and their professional advisers, identifying and reporting on construction-related risks from a lender’s perspective.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and negotiating JCT and other building contracts.
- Advising on professional appointments and consultant agreements.
- Reviewing collateral warranties and third-party rights.
- Advising on assignments, novations and step-in rights.
- Reviewing performance security and other contractual protections.
- Advising on professional indemnity insurance provisions.
- Reviewing development agreements and other construction-related documentation.
- Undertaking construction due diligence and preparing lender reports.
- Advising on conditions precedent relating to construction documentation.
- Supporting development finance and real estate finance transactions.
- Reviewing property and security documentation.
- Liaising with monitoring surveyors and other professional advisers.
About You
We are looking for a solicitor with 4+ PQE with experience in non-contentious construction law.
You will have a strong understanding of construction documentation and the risks that can arise on property development projects, together with the ability to assess those risks and provide clear, commercially focused advice to lenders.
Experience in real estate finance, secured lending or acting for banks and other funders on development finance transactions would be highly advantageous.
The role would suit either a construction solicitor looking to develop their expertise in lender-side development finance or a real estate finance solicitor with substantial non-contentious construction experience.
