I am working closely with a leading Top 100 UK law firm, who are looking to appoint an Operations Manager to join their Military department in Cardiff. This is a strategic and operationally focused appointment, working closely with the Department Head and wider leadership team, playing a key role in supporting departmental performance, improving operational efficiencies, and ensuring teams are equipped to deliver an outstanding client service.

The Role: They are looking for an Operations Manager to work closely with the Department Head and leadership team, supporting the operational performance and strategic development of the Military department. This is a broad and highly visible role that will play a central part in monitoring departmental performance, managing resources and workflows, improving efficiencies, and ensuring teams are supported to deliver a high-quality and client-focused service.
- Preparing and delivering KPI reporting and management information
- Monitoring team performance, workloads, and departmental service levels
- Supporting financial and operational performance across the department
- Managing resource planning and capacity across multiple legal teams
- Supporting onboarding, training, and development initiatives
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies
- Acting as a key liaison between legal teams and support departments including HR, IT, and Accounts
- Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and business partners
- Supporting team engagement, performance, and overall operational effectiveness
Requirements: Previous operational management experience within a professional services or high-volume environment. Strong organisational and people management skills. Experience analysing performance data and driving operational improvements. The ability to manage competing priorities and workloads effectively. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused approach. Experience supporting team performance, engagement, and development. Experience within a legal environment would be advantageous, though not essential.
