Role Summary

The Football Coach & Development Performance Analyst is a hybrid coaching and analytical role embedded within the Varsity Nine Football & Education Programme and International Programme. The role combines on-pitch coaching delivery with day-to-day analysis responsibilities, supporting the ongoing development of players within a high-performance environment. The role will mainly be based in Milton Keynes, with a secondary working location at Bisham Abbey Sports Centre. Your mission is to contribute to the delivery of elite coaching standards while ensuring players and staff receive consistent, accurate, and professional analytical support across training, fixtures, showcase events, and tours. Working closely with the Lead Football Performance Analyst, coaching staff, and operational leadership, you will support the delivery of performance analysis processes throughout the programmes, while also assisting with showcase event operations, player profiling, and recruitment support where required.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching Delivery & Player Development
    • Session Delivery: Support the planning and delivery of coaching sessions within the Football & Education Programme and International Programme.
    • Player Development: Assist with the technical and tactical development of players across training and match environments.
    • Match Day Coaching: Support match day preparation, warm-ups, tactical communication, and in-game coaching responsibilities.
    • Professional Standards: Help maintain a disciplined, high-performance environment that reflects elite academy and professional football standards.
    • Player Feedback: Deliver constructive individual and group feedback to players using both coaching observations and performance analysis insights.
  • Programme Analysis Support
    • Training Analysis: Capture and analyse training sessions to support coaching feedback and programme development.
    • Match Coding: Code fixtures and training content using professional analysis software and workflows.
    • Video Review: Assist with the preparation and delivery of player video review sessions to improve tactical understanding and decision making.
    • Performance Reporting: Support the creation of post-match reviews, player reports, tactical summaries, and analysis documentation.
    • Data Collection: Assist with the tracking and organisation of player KPIs, benchmarking data, and performance insights across the programmes.
    • Operational Support: Help maintain analysis equipment, video storage systems, and coding workflows on a day-to-day basis.
  • Showcase Events & Recruitment Support
    • Event Support: Assist with the operational and analytical delivery of Varsity Nine showcase events, combines, fixtures, and international tours.
    • Video Operations: Support footage capture, coding, tagging, and organisation during live showcase environments.
    • Scouting Support: Assist the Lead Football Performance Analyst with the creation of scouting reports, player profiles, highlight packages, and scouting profile videos for US College placement and recruitment purposes.
    • Player Assessment: Contribute to the technical assessment and benchmarking of players during showcase and recruitment events.
    • Recruitment Collaboration: Work alongside coaching and recruitment staff to help identify players suitable for Varsity Nine pathways and progression opportunities.
  • Operational & Professional Standards
    • Collaboration: Work closely with coaches, analysts, operational staff, and recruitment teams across the business.
    • Travel & Delivery: Support national and international programme delivery, tours, fixtures, and showcase events.
    • Professional Environment: Contribute to a positive, ambitious, and professional culture throughout the programmes.
    • Continuous Development: Remain engaged with modern coaching methodologies, analysis technologies, and football industry best practice.
    • Performance Technology & Devices: Manage Varsity Nine’s performance technology and player monitoring devices, including systems such as PlayerData, GPS units, wearable devices, video equipment, and associated software platforms, ensuring they are correctly maintained, assigned, charged, used, downloaded, and integrated into player reporting processes.

Requirements

  • Essential
    • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship is available for this role).
    • Coaching Experience: Practical coaching experience within academy, grassroots, college, or high-performance football environments.
    • Performance Analysis Experience: Experience or understanding of football analysis workflows, match coding, and video review processes.
    • Education: Degree in Sports Coaching, Football Coaching & Performance, Performance Analysis, Sports Science, or a related field.
    • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with analysis and video platforms such as Metrica, Wyscout, Hudl Sportscode, Veo, or similar systems.
    • Video & Editing Skills: Ability to support video coding, clipping, highlight creation, and basic player reporting workflows.
    • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage players positively and professionally.
    • Organisation: Ability to manage multiple responsibilities across coaching, fixtures, travel, and analysis support.
    • Mobility: Willingness to travel regularly for fixtures, tours, showcase events, and operational delivery.
    • Site Presence: Ability to work from the Milton Keynes Training Facility or Bisham Abbey site and programme environments on a daily basis.
    • Logistics: Full clean driving licence.
    • Clearance: Clean DBS.

    • UEFA Coaching Qualifications: UEFA B, or working towards higher qualifications.
    • Football Background: Playing, coaching, scouting, or academy experience within professional or semi-professional football.
    • Live Event Experience: Experience working within showcase events, tournaments, or high-pressure football environments.
    • Growth Potential: Ambition to progress into senior coaching, analysis, or technical leadership roles within Varsity Nine.

  • Salary: £25,000–£30,000 (subject to experience).
