My client based in Lancashire is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to support the Private Sector Housing team on an initial 3–6 month contract, with the potential for extension.
The successful candidate will play a key role in addressing a backlog of HMO inspections, helping to ensure compliance with housing legislation and licensing requirements across the borough.
This role would suit an officer with strong experience in HMO regulation who is comfortable managing inspections independently and producing high-quality reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking HMO inspections in accordance with relevant housing legislation
- Assessing compliance with HMO licensing conditions and management regulations
- Identifying housing hazards and areas of non-compliance
- Preparing inspection reports and recommendations for further action where necessary
- Liaising with landlords, managing agents and tenants
- Maintaining accurate records and case management systems
- Supporting the wider Private Sector Housing service where required
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within Private Sector Housing in a Local Authority setting
- Strong experience undertaking HMO inspections Good knowledge of HMO licensing legislation and management regulations
- Experience assessing housing conditions and identifying compliance issues
- Ability to manage inspections and workload independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
