A Council in Devon county is looking to bring in an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to support the EP team manage a varied case load.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain some more hands on experience and increase your work load, as well as make a real impact improving the living environment standards across the local area.

The Role and Responsibilities

  • Carrying out site visits/ inspections and asses complaints
  • Investigate Noise Nuisance from both residential and commercial residencies
  • Assessing Air Quality
  • Investigating Contaminated Land
  • Taking informal and formal enforcement action where appropriate
  • Investigate waste accumulation and associated environmental protection issues
  • Maintaining accurate case records and preparing reports where required
  • Liaise with residents, businesses, complainants, landowners and other stakeholders
  • Manage a caseload effectively and ensure investigations are progressed within appropriate timescales

Essential Requirements

  • Previous Local Authority Private Sector Housing experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Noise Nuisance work.
  • Experience with Waste accumulation work.
  • Experience of taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary
  • The ability to manage a varied caseload independently and work effectively to deadlines
  • The ability to deal confidently with members of the public and businesses
  • Full UK driving licence.
