Varnom Ross are hiring on behalf of an ambitious and progressive Local Authority in Surrey who are looking to bring in an Environmental Health Officer to join their Private Sector Housing team for an initial 6 month contract.

About the role:

Environmental Health Officer (Private Sector Housing)

Location – Surrey

Contact length – 6 months (with the view to extend)

Rate – Β£40-Β£50 an hour (DOE)

Working arrangements – Full or part time work, hybrid working

My client requires an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to investigate housing conditions and advise Landlords and Tenants regarding housing regulations.

Your responsibilities:

  • Investigate and address complaints related to housing conditions, proceeding with enforcement action when and if necessary
  • Perform risk assessments in properties and applying measures to reduce potential hazards
  • Offer professional advice to Tenants and Landlords in accordance with housing regulations and legal requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a Local Authority Private Sector/Housing Standards team
  • Thorough understanding of HHSRS and the 2004 Housing Act
