Food Safety Officer

Location: Essex (Hybrid – 2 days on site, 3 days remote)

Contract: Initial 6 months

Rate: £45–£50 per hour (umbrella)

We are working with a Council in Essex who are seeking an experienced Food Safety Officer to join their Environmental Health team on an interim basis.

The role:

  • Carrying out food hygiene inspections across categories A–E.
  • Covering some unrated premises as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety legislation and maintaining high public health standards.

Requirements:

  • EHRB registration, CIEH, or possession of the Higher Certificate in Food Control (essential).
  • Proven experience delivering food hygiene inspections in line with FSA requirements.
  • Ability to manage workload independently while collaborating with the wider Environmental Health team.
