Environmental Health Officer – Pollution / Environmental Protection
Location: Essex (1 day a week in the office, remainder remote)
Rate: £45 per hour (umbrella)
Contract: 3–6 months initially, likely extension
We are working with a council in Essex seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer (Pollution / Environmental Protection) to join their team on an interim basis.
The role will focus on:
- Assisting with the delivery of casework relating to Air Quality, Contaminated Land, Environmental Permitting, Noise Nuisance, and Filthy & Verminous properties.
- Providing expert advice and support to colleagues, stakeholders, and members of the public.
- Managing a varied caseload and ensuring compliance with statutory duties.
What’s on offer:
- £45 per hour (umbrella, inside IR35).
- Hybrid working: only 1 day a week in the office, with the rest remote.
- Initial 3–6 month contract, with strong potential for extension.
About you:
Qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHO) or Environmental Protection Specialist with relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of legislation and practice in Environmental Protection.
Comfortable managing complex and sensitive casework.
Previous experience within a local authority setting is highly desirable.
