Hiring Property Accounting/Finance Professionals for the Private Sector.
Role Purpose
Working in the Lease Audit team within the larger Occupier Accounts team where the individual will be responsible for conducting lease audits for corporate clients to identify, negotiate and recoup potential savings.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical & Operational
- Audit and reconcile all financial considerations including but not limited to service charges, insurance recharges, base rent, turnover rent, works deposits and capital allowances.
- Troubleshoot/dispute resolution through lease language regarding specific issues.
- Prepare individual lease audit reports consistent with each client’s scope of work.
- Communicate and negotiate with landlords to enforce compliance of lease obligations.
- Work closely with client legal department in interpretation of lease clauses for purposes of ensuring landlord/tenant compliance with lease terms.
- Coordinate and lead recurring lease audit status meetings with clients and account teams.
- Supervise 3rd party auditors on other lease audit projects as needed.
- Manage and prepare reports for clients including a lease master audit saving and cost avoidance reports.
- Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve the role responsibilities.
- Conduct audit service across UK, Europe and in some cases rest of the world with support, where required, from in country expertise both in‑house and/or 3rd party.
- Participate in client solutioning and pitches.
- Manage client contracting discussions alongside legal and leadership teams.
- Form part of team to setup lease audit services for UK, EMEA, APAC and LATM regions.
- Responsible for assisting other team members passing on knowledge and skills particularly to new members of staff.
- Undertaking project work to support re‑engineering or efficiency improvement.
Person Specification/Requirements
- Proactive, self‑starter, strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Strong oral and written skills, ability to draft professional business letters gauged to document and most importantly convince the landlord of the inaccuracy of their methodologies.
- Must be familiar with lease terminology and have the ability to interpret lease provisions and to understand legal documents.
- Understanding of the service charge end to end process as well as RICS guidelines.
- Understanding of Real Estate transactions.
- Advance Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Numerical and analytically minded.
