The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Property Accountant to join an ambitious, well-funded and rapidly growing property management business based in London.

The business manages a growing portfolio of commercial property assets and is looking to strengthen its finance function with the appointment of a capable Property Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of its development, where you will have the opportunity to take ownership of key financial responsibilities, work closely with the wider property management team and play an important role in supporting the continued growth of the business.

Unlike a traditional finance role within a large, established organisation, this position offers genuine visibility, responsibility and the opportunity to make an impact. As the business continues to expand, there will be considerable scope to develop your role and progress your career.

The Role

Reporting into the senior management team, you will be responsible for supporting the financial management and reporting of the property portfolio, ensuring accurate financial information, effective controls and timely reporting.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial property assets.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Managing service charge accounting, including budgets, reconciliations and year-end accounts.
  • Monitoring rental income, expenditure, arrears and cash flow across the portfolio.
  • Managing purchase and sales ledger processes, ensuring invoices are accurately recorded and processed.
  • Reconciling bank accounts, control accounts and balance sheet items.
  • Assisting with annual budgets, forecasts and financial planning.
  • Supporting year-end accounts and liaising with external accountants and auditors.
  • Working closely with property managers to monitor property expenditure and financial performance.
  • Ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and that appropriate controls and processes are in place.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and systems as the business grows.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded and hands-on Property Accountant who is comfortable working in a growing business and taking ownership of their responsibilities.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in a Property Accountant, Assistant Property Accountant or similar property finance role.
  • A background in commercial property accounting or property management.
  • Good knowledge of service charge accounting, including budgets and year-end reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to work independently and contribute to improving processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with both finance and property management teams.

A relevant accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT) would be advantageous, although candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.

Why Join?

  • Join a growing business: Be part of an ambitious, well-funded property business with significant growth plans.
  • Take ownership: Have responsibility and visibility across the finance function rather than being one small part of a large finance team.
  • Career progression: Develop alongside the business, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the portfolio expands.
  • Make an impact: Help shape financial processes, reporting and systems as the business continues to grow.
  • Commercial exposure: Work closely with the property management team and gain exposure to the wider commercial and operational performance of the portfolio.

This is a great opportunity for a Property Accountant looking to join an ambitious business where they can take ownership, add value and develop their career as the company continues to grow.
