Are you an experienced Environmental Health Officer with a passion for improving housing standards? Varnom Ross is working with a forward-thinking London borough seeking a motivated EHO to join their Private Sector Housing team on an initial 6-month contract.

The Role

  • You'll be responsible for carrying out a range of duties including:
  • HHSRS inspections of privately rented properties
  • HMO Licensing inspections and compliance checks
  • Enforcing housing legislation and initiating formal action where necessary
  • Responding to service requests and complaints from tenants and landlords
  • Liaising with landlords, agents, and internal departments to ensure safe and habitable housing

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Environmental Health
  • EHORB registration or CIEH-accredited
  • Demonstrable experience in private sector housing, particularly HHSRS and HMO licensing
  • A strong working knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and related legislation
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload
