Who we are
Varley is a contemporary fashion brand for the modern woman. Founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife Lara and Ben Mead, we are an international, family-run business headquartered between London, Los Angeles, and New York.
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Copywriter to join Varley on a short-term contract of up to 3 months. This role is focused on supporting day-to-day copywriting needs across the business, with a particular focus on product, website, CRM, and newsletter copy, as well as broader marketing support where needed. It would suit a highly experienced copywriter with strong fashion and e-commerce experience, who can quickly embed into the team, take ownership of a varied workload, and dedicate focused time across the contract period.
Responsibilities
- Product & Website Copy
- Write and update PDP copy, ensuring all product detail is accurate, clear and aligned with Varley’s tone of voice
- Write and maintain PCP copy and other product-adjacent website copy as required
- Support product knowledge copy where needed
- Work closely with Product teams to build a strong understanding of product features, fabrics, fit and key selling points
- Ensure product and website copy is kept up to date across launches and ongoing trade activity
- CRM & Newsletter
- Support copy for CRM flows, targeted email campaigns, and newsletters
- General Copywriting Support
- Support day-to-day copy needs across the business, including social and marketing
- Work closely with the in-house Copywriter to help manage priorities and maintain consistency across outputs
- Manage multiple briefs and deadlines across business-as-usual and seasonal activity
Key Success Measures
- Accuracy and consistency across all copy outputs
- Strong and consistent use of Varley’s tone of voice
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams efficiently
- Strong collaboration across Product, E-commerce, CRM and Marketing teams
Experience and Skills
- Proven experience as a copywriter, ideally in fashion, retail or e-commerce
- Strong experience across product copy, website copy, CRM and newsletter copy
- Confident writing across multiple formats, including social and marketing support copy
- Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong understanding of tone of voice and copy consistency across channels
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work at pace
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with a range of teams
