WHAT THE CLIENT DOES?
Our client is a global design and technology services company that provides services to various industries, including automotive, broadcast, communications, healthcare, and transportation. They offer engineering, research, and design (ER&D) services, focusing on software development, system integration, and support.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design of Prototype bridging components to validate new features as part of Model Year updates.
- Design of components via additive manufacturing to support Demo / Mule vehicles.
- Design & modification of components to support Physical Mock-up builds.
- Design of bespoke tools / equipment to support R&D workshop activities.
- Design of New Additive Manufacturing components to drive business wide adoption.
- Reverse engineer components to aid fitment on new vehicle packaging.
- Design Jigs & fixtures for various Vehicle Product lines to undergo various test procedures as part of Vehicle Gateways.
- Deliver high quality CAD design and configuration for wind tunnel testing and for CFD Analysis.
- Coordinate with the customer's Aerodynamics team on wind tunnel and CFD model setup and geometry details.
- Recommend geometry improvements based on wind tunnel tests, stitch surfaces, remove overlaps, and create a clean model.
- Build CATIA V5 models for wind tunnel (full/partial scale) and CFD (surface and solid): Suitable for aerodynamic testing.
- Ready for rapid prototyping (RP) or other manufacturing methods.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Mechanical Engineer with expertise in understanding the product development from concept to start of production.
- Strong understanding of the design aspects of trims (exterior, interior) and expertise in CAD (Solid / Surface modelling, DMU Analysis) and PLM.
- Hands on experience using various measurement tools to measure and reverse engineering components based on the project requirements.
- Very good understanding of Sheet metal design and various additive manufacturing technologies.
- Working Knowledge of Volkswagen group tools.
- Strong working knowledge of using mechanical software tools CATIA V5 R32 with Teamcenter.
- Have a good understanding and experience in manufacturing techniques, tolerances, materials, strength and stress and failure modes.
EXPERIENCE BAND:
2 to 3 years Automotive experience, with minimum 1 - 2 years of Volkswagen group company work experience on above tools.
Qualification and Education Requirement:
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from reputed Institution / University.
