Our client is a global design and technology services company that provides services to various industries, including automotive, broadcast, communications, healthcare, and transportation. They offer engineering, research, and design (ER&D) services, focusing on software development, system integration, and support.
Position details
- Location: Gaydon, UK
- Duration: 12 months fixed term employment
- Salary: GBP45k/year
- Hybrid work: 5 days/week from client location
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to create user flows, wireframes, and persona maps specifically for driver and passenger use cases
- Ability to hand off assets to HMI Developers and communicate with engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible
- Mastery of typography, color theory (including high-contrast "Dark Mode" for night driving), and pixel-perfect iconography
- Proficiency in Vector Artwork and creating high-resolution assets that meet technical constraints for embedded vehicle screens
Core Software Set
- Primary Design: Figma is the industry standard for UI layouts, component-based workflows, and building high-fidelity prototypes
- Asset Creation: Adobe Illustrator (vector-based icons and graphics) and Adobe Photoshop (high-resolution 2D textures and renders)
- Automotive-Specific Prototyping: ProtoPie is highly valued for prototypes that communicate with external hardware and car sensors
- HMI Development Tools: Crank Storyboard or Unreal Engine (UMG) are often used to bridge 2D art into the final vehicle software
- Motion Graphics: Adobe After Effects for designing transitions, startup animations, and micro-interactions
