Role Overview: Senior Business Analyst (Contract)

Location: Newport, South Wales (Hybrid: on-site attendance required twice per month)

Contract Type: Contractor / Interim (Strictly non-permanent)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Day Rate: Up to £600 per day

The Opportunity: We are seeking a high-calibre Senior Business Analyst to play a pivotal role in a major public sector digital transformation programme based in Newport. Working within agile, multidisciplinary teams across the discovery, alpha, beta, and live phases, you will bridge the gap between user needs, policy intent, operational processes, and technical delivery. Please note: This is an urgent, contract-only engagement starting immediately.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Core Analysis: Lead complex requirements gathering, elicit functional and non-functional requirements, and translate user research and policy intent into user stories, acceptance criteria, and clear process documentation.
  • Process & GDS Alignment: Map current and future state processes, support service blueprinting, and ensure all design work strictly aligns with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and user-centred principles.
  • Stakeholder & Governance Engagement: Facilitate workshops across operational, policy, and senior management teams, while supporting programme governance and preparation for GDS service assessments.

Essential Background: Extensive experience as a Business Analyst within complex public sector environments, a deep understanding of the GDS digital delivery lifecycle, and proficiency in agile delivery.
