Vargo is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for an established engineering manufacturer. The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.
This is a hands-on design and product-development role, reporting to the Engineering Manager - not a people-management or strategic leadership position.
The role:
- Develop mechanical designs for new products and customer-specific engineering solutions.
- Produce and develop designs, engineering calculations, specifications and technical drawings.
- Take concepts through feasibility, prototyping, testing and product validation.
- Investigate technical problems and improve existing products and designs.
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality and other engineering colleagues to deliver practical, robust solutions.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and support engineering change control.
About you:
You will bring strong mechanical design and product-development experience, with the technical depth to take ownership of detailed engineering work. Experience in an engineering manufacturing environment and a practical understanding of how designs are built, tested and improved will be particularly relevant. A mechanical engineering, product-design or related qualification is useful.
The emphasis is on proven hands-on capability, technical problem-solving and delivery rather than team leadership.
