The Accounts Assistant Job Role - AAT/ACCA studiers

The job as the Finance Assistant is a newly created role, due to an internal promotion and will interest an Accounts Assistant seeking a varied and challenging role within a stable & ambitious company. The Finance Assistant (Accounts Assistant) will be working in a friendly team and supporting the Group Financial Accounts Manager, taking responsibility for the reconciliation of all group bank accounts, credit card accounts, petty cash and general expenses. In addition, you will have responsibility for the provision of cashflow information as well as so much more!

  • Posting daily banking entries and ensuring all banking discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
  • Working closely with management, you will be responsible for the provision of cashflow information.
  • Responsible for all bank, credit card and petty cash expense reconciliations.
  • Preparing journals for banking, credit cards, petty cash, financing, and general expenses.
  • A key part of the job is to ensure payments and expenses are posted correctly with reference to VAT.
  • Improving processes and enhancing efficiencies.
  • Updating bank mandates.
  • Collaboratively supporting others within the team.
  • Assisting within the finance team for example purchase ledger and general accountancy duties, month end etc.
  • Ad hoc project work!

The ideal Finance Assistant candidate:

  • Experience in preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of debits and credits.
  • Some experience in VAT useful.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to work to deadlines.
  • Ambitious and keen to develop career.
  • You will have strong Excel skills as well as a good eye for detail.
  • Ideally keen to continue with AAT or at early stages of ACCA/CIMA studies!
  • The job would suit an Accountancy & Finance Graduate - if you have some work experience in accountancy.
