Vardey Recruitment is partnering with a successful & well-established manufacturing business in the Poole area - West Dorset. The company are hiring a sole charge HR Manager to work closely with the 4 key directors of this SME business, working very closely with the Finance Director. The HR Manager job is an exciting opportunity for someone to implement ideas & processes to support decision making, whilst 'steadying the ship'. The HR Manager will be based on site (in the office) ideally full time hours but the role could appeal to someone seeking 30 hours per week - across the 5 days (ideally).
This appointment of the HR Manager is pivotal to the success and growth of the company. You will be the focal point for all HR and people development activities, advice, and knowledge to ensure a more positive work environment. You will build on the existing HR practices, develop, and implement people strategies and support and aid change where possible. You will look after the full cycle of employee needs from recruitment, HR administration, employee well-being and general HR queries.
HR Manager Duties Include:- Delivery & Administration
- Supporting, mentoring and guiding on all aspects of the HR and people development to ensure the implementation of best practice policies and procedures.
- Develop relationships with line managers and directors, to discuss and manage people challenges.
- Leading and managing the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment and selections through to exit.
- Managing and reviewing the administration of all HR processes including new starters, onboarding, probation, performance reviews, 121’s, development plans and exit interviews.
- Advising, and developing line managers knowledge on employee relations including disciplinary grievances, absences and redundancies.
- Review and maintain HR policies and procedures in compliance with current legislation & ensuring all Payroll administration is completed.
- Team Working
- Establish good working relationships with a range of managers on best practice in relation to people issues.
- Supporting the ongoing effectiveness of line managers and their teams to ensure a high-performance culture is driven across the business.
- Engaging with and motivating within the business to improve efficiencies, capabilities, engagement, cultural development, and communication.
- Provide advice and support on all general people matters and ER cases.
- Drive the development of senior leadership succession and development plan to ensure there is an ongoing pipeline of leaders.

- Lead the annual appraisal process and develop this process annually.
- Developing employees and line managers through face-to-face training, coaching and mentoring.
- Contributing to meetings and the continuous improvement activities around people.

- Ensure diversity and inclusion is embedded in all business activities and strategies.
Who should apply?
The HR Job will interest an HR Professional either proven HR Manager /BP level or Senior HR advisor keen to step up. The role is advertised as a full time but it could be of interest to someone seeking 30 hours per week - although the role is office based ideally 5 days. CIPD qualification level 5 or above - ideally or by experience. Comprehensive understanding of employment laws. Experience of managing change, restructures, redeployment, and redundancy. Experience of recruitment and interviewing support. Good verbal and written communication skills at all levels including active listening. Ability to influence decision making. Strong independent ‘Get it Done’ attitude. Be organised and efficient to balance workload. Excellent team working attitude, flexible, resilient. Someone happy to perform a standalone HR role working with the Directors who are often resistant to change! Manufacturing and SME experience is highly desirable.
