Vardey Recruitment is partnering exclusively with a leading specialist manufacturing business located in Poole, Dorset. We are recruiting for a Part‑Time Finance Assistant/Bookkeeper to support the FD in the running of the accounts department in this small and friendly company. The Part‑Time Accounts Job is to maintain the sales and purchase ledgers, cash book and undertake credit control duties and more if desired. You will support the FD in assisting with the production of reliable management information.

PART-TIME (25/30 hours approx.)

Duties of the Finance Assistant / Assistant to FD:

  • Posting sales and purchase ledger transactions and journals
  • Credit Control – Approx. 40 live main customers - high volume / low volume
  • Matching invoices to receipts on ERP – Dynamics 365
  • Reconciling bank accounts to nominal ledger
  • Assisting in monthly stock check of raw materials and finished goods
  • Maintaining Company fixed asset register – Excel
  • Working with spreadsheets – Excel
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Preparing payment proposals and ensuring payments, amounts and records are correct
  • Sorting out incoming and outgoing daily post and answering any queries
  • Managing petty cash transactions
  • Reconciling finance accounts and direct debits

The ideal Finance candidate:

  • AAT desirable but not essential
  • Qualified by experience – worked in a small finance department as a finance assistant with accounts payable/sales ledger/credit control knowledge
  • Proven Finance Assistant – Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant
  • Finance Manager keen to reduce hours/pressure or work flexible hours around school hours
  • Good analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Hands on and practical
  • Flexible, self‑starter
  • Enthusiastic, drive, vision to grow and innovate
