Vardey Recruitment is supporting a secure and growing SME company in the Dorchester region with the recruitment of an assistant accountant to support the Financial Controller. This is an exciting opportunity for an assistant accountant to join a friendly, yet professional organisation in Dorchester who offer the staff a 4 day working week!
The Assistant Accountant role will support the FC to ensure all the records are kept accurately and produced in a timely manner. You will get stuck into both financial and management accounting and help to improve processes where needed.
Assistant Financial Accountant Job Duties:- Ensure the general ledgers are accurately closed at month end to support timely production of the management accounts
- Provide data required to support group level monthly reporting
- Working across the business tracking and reporting of actual results vs forecast and budget helping to better control spend
- Use actual information to drive content of forecasts and budgets
- Conduct analysis of hours booked, and materials utilised by project to support sales forecast calculations
- Monitor stock levels to understand, record and report monthly movements
- Propose weekly payment runs and make supplier payments from the company bank accounts in line with internal approval levels
- Accruals and prepayments & prepare VAT
- Liaise with auditors
- Maintain the fixed asset register, recording additions and disposals and posting depreciation monthly
- Assisting with Cash flow reporting
- Supervising others performing debtors / creditors / cash processes to ensure that consistency of service is maintained across the department as the team grows
- An active studier or an assistant accountant who is qualified by experience ACCA/ACA/CIMA Part-Qualified, QBE or AAT studier/AAT qualified
- Good knowledge of accruals, prepayments
- Great attention to detail

- Strong background in financial accounting
- 4 day working week - total of 37 hours per week - Monday to Thursday
