Vardey Recruitment is excited to support a well-established charity near Waterlooville in Hampshire with the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant. This is an amazing charity to work for with over 250 employees, providing free care and support to those in the community with life‑limiting illnesses and their families.

The accounts job will be to ensure timely and accurate inputs into the accountancy system including accounts payable, accounts receivables and bank reconciliations. You will prepare invoices for payment, raise sales invoices, process expenses, process income, and prepare weekly payment runs. The Accounts Assistant will check cash amounts collected from charity events – cash counting to prepare for banking. Once the team have reviewed the management accounts, this accounts person will be involved in correcting any accountancy entries to ensure the postings are accurate and classified correctly. You will support the finance team in producing regular and ad‑hoc analysis to aid timely and accurate decision making. This will help broaden your accounts role.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience of purchase ledger (accounts payable) – some sales ledger experience an advantage but not essential.
  • Possibly an AAT studier or qualified by experience accounts assistant.
  • Good Excel, Word skills.
  • Able to work to deadlines.
  • Able to prioritise work.
  • Able to work as a team.
  • Supportive and helpful.
