We are seeking a Finance Assistant (Accounts Assistant) to join a welcoming, friendly and ambitious team. The company is a well‑established, flexible employer and a leader in its field, offering job security, career growth and study support for AAT or ACCA accountancy qualifications.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly professional and welcoming team in Christchurch, Dorset.

The Accounts Assistant Job Role:

  • Posting daily banking entries and ensuring all banking discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
  • Working closely with management, responsible for the provision of cashflow information.
  • Responsible for all bank, credit card and petty cash expense reconciliations.
  • Preparing journals for banking, credit cards, petty cash, financing, and general expenses.
  • Ensuring payments and expenses are posted correctly with reference to VAT.
  • Improving processes to enhance efficiencies.
  • Updating bank mandates.
  • Collaboratively supporting others within the team.
  • Assisting within the finance team for example purchase ledger and general accountancy duties, month‑end etc.
  • Ad hoc project work.

The Ideal Finance Assistant candidate:

  • Experience in preparing bank reconciliations.
  • General bookkeeping knowledge of debits and credits.
  • Some experience in VAT (ideally).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to work to deadlines.
  • Ambitious and keen to develop a career.
  • Strong Excel skills and a good eye for detail.
  • Ideally keen to continue with AAT or at early stages of ACCA/CIMA studies.
