Summary: The Clinical Training Specialist (CTS) is a Patient Training and Education expert in Home Therapies for Vulnerable Adults. The CTS partners with referring units to teach patients and staff best practices in Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). The role involves fulfilling patient training demand to ensure patients are expertly trained on Vantive's therapies to optimize outcomes and minimize avoidable technique failures. The role requires innovative, evidence-based teaching practices to educate staff and patients, improving technique and therapy success. The position is based at an EC and involves collaboration with other EC sites and regional CTSs. Flexibility in approach is essential to meet patient training needs within their dialysis schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach and empower patients in self-management of PD through high-quality, evidence-based training, following hospital referrals, primarily at EC, but also in patients' homes or hospitals as needed.
- Educate, advise, and train healthcare professionals on best practice patient training methods for PD, adopting a train-the-trainer approach to develop skills in referring hospitals.
- Support onsite education of junior healthcare teams in basic skills for managing PD therapy.
- Collaborate with Renal Therapy Specialists to assist with education plans aligned with growth strategies.
- Work with teaching hospitals to use centers as educational environments for observing training, including Renal Course nurses and new PD nurses.
- Maintain high-quality training records, document training activities, and provide feedback to hospital staff.
- Offer innovative refresher and follow-up training for patients.
- Stay current with product knowledge through journals and conferences.
- Participate in Regional Business Meetings to align activities and share market knowledge.
- Provide feedback from patients and customers, acting as a subject matter expert to support sales and marketing teams in material development.
- Support internal training initiatives to promote clinical excellence within Vantive's commercial teams.
- Assist the EC manager in maintaining CQC regulations and ensure inspection readiness.
- Safeguard the wellbeing of service users and staff, complying with CQC regulated activities.
- Conduct regular audits to monitor education quality, address concerns, and facilitate continuous improvement.
- Engage in governance processes to identify learning opportunities.
- Support NHS staff in PD knowledge development through educational sessions, both face-to-face and remotely.
- Provide high-quality remote support when needed.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
- Adult Nursing degree or equivalent (Essential)
- Registered with NMC (Essential)
- Evidence of post-registration study (Essential)
- Proficient in Office 365 (Essential)
- Strong teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal (Essential)
