Assignment: Initial 8-week assessment, with potential to support a wider transformation programme.

Vantage Point is partnering with a leading consultancy to support a complex cloud transformation programme within a regulated financial services environment. We are looking for an experienced Assessment Lead to deliver an intensive eight-week sprint focused on defining the migration approach for business-critical applications currently hosted within a Legacy Landing Zone. The assessment will determine how each application should move into the organisation’s strategic Azure VMware Solution environment, including the appropriate target hosting approach, migration pathway, sequencing, dependencies, cost considerations and delivery risks.

The Role:

  • Lead the assessment from mobilisation through to final recommendation and formal approval.
  • Work across multiple legal entities, application owners, technology teams and senior business stakeholders to establish a consistent assessment framework.
  • Coordinate application-level analysis and drive agreement on the future treatment of each application.
  • Bring structure, pace and clear decision-making to a complex environment, translating technical findings into credible executive materials and a practical roadmap for the follow-on transformation programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of an eight-week application migration assessment sprint.
  • Define the assessment approach, workstreams, milestones, governance and delivery plan.
  • Coordinate technical and business stakeholders across multiple legal entities.
  • Assess business-critical applications currently hosted within the Legacy Landing Zone.
  • Define the appropriate migration pathway into Azure VMware Solution for each application.
  • Agree target hosting, migration treatment, sequencing and readiness requirements.
  • Identify application, infrastructure, data, security and business dependencies.
  • Drive alignment and consensus across application owners, technology teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Establish clear decision criteria and maintain a complete record of application-level recommendations.
  • Manage risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and blockers throughout the sprint.
  • Produce an integrated view of migration scope, complexity, cost and delivery sequencing.
  • Develop high-quality executive materials, including decision papers, plans, cost views and recommendations.
  • Present findings to senior governance forums and secure formal approval.
  • Shape the scope, structure, roadmap and mobilisation requirements for the follow-on transformation programme.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong programme, project or transformation delivery experience within complex technology environments.
  • Demonstrable experience leading application assessment, cloud migration planning or infrastructure transformation.
  • Experience assessing application estates and defining target hosting and migration strategies.
  • Good understanding of Azure VMware Solution, VMware-based cloud migration or comparable hosted infrastructure environments.
  • Experience working with legacy hosting environments or landing zones.
  • Strong understanding of application dependencies, migration sequencing, readiness and delivery risk.
  • Experience coordinating stakeholders across multiple legal entities, business units or jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to drive consensus and formal approval across senior technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong governance, planning, dependency management and risk management capability.
  • Experience producing executive-level plans, cost views, decision materials and transformation roadmaps.
  • Confidence operating within short, outcome-focused discovery or assessment phases.
  • Experience shaping or mobilising larger transformation programmes following an initial assessment.
  • Financial services or another regulated industry background would be highly beneficial.

You’ll Be a Strong Fit If You Can:

  • Bring structure and pace to a complex application assessment.
  • Translate technical findings into clear business and investment decisions.
  • Challenge stakeholders constructively and move discussions towards resolution.
  • Balance application-level detail with the wider migration strategy.
  • Identify risks and dependencies early enough to protect delivery outcomes.
  • Produce recommendations that are credible, costed and ready for executive approval.
  • Build a practical foundation for a larger cloud migration programme.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to lead a high-profile assessment that will directly shape a significant cloud transformation programme. You will work closely with senior consultancy, business and technology stakeholders, defining the route from a legacy hosting environment into the strategic Azure VMware Solution platform and establishing the foundations for the next phase of delivery.
