Position Overview
The Billing & Reporting Specialist supports the utility billing process by assisting with monthly bill reviews, data validation, and report preparation. This role ensures compliance with established procedures and collaboration with internal teams under supervision.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating billing activities, preparing standard reports, and supporting audits as directed.
Essential Job Functions
- Billing Process Support: Assist with the monthly utility billing review process and support approval activities under guidance. Prepare sample bills and validate meter data following established procedures. Ensure compliance with Vantage standards and customer lease requirements. Use Vantage tools to request, track, and review billing tasks.
- Policy and Procedure Compliance: Follow established policies and procedures for utility billing. Support billing system updates and testing under supervision.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Perform quality checks on billing data and escalate issues as needed. Provide documentation and data for internal and external audits.
- Reporting and Data Preparation: Prepare standard financial and statistical reports as directed. Update dashboards and compile data for variance analysis under guidance.
- Customer and Team Interaction: Respond to customer inquiries related to billing under supervision. Collaborate with Accounts Payable and Finance teams to resolve billing issues.
- Process Improvement Support: Suggest improvements when identified and assist with implementing approved changes.
- Additional Duties: Handle additional tasks as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in billing or accounting preferred. Familiarity with contracts management or reporting tools is a plus.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to follow established processes and seek input when needed. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic data validation techniques. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to think critically, address problems and drive efficiencies using metrics and information.
