Position Overview
The Security Officer role is responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery of the security function. The role requires identification and reporting of incidents, managing all incoming alarms, and maintaining the security and safety of all personnel on site.
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure all personnel on site adhere to and comply with Vantage Security and access control policies and procedures
- Work under limited supervision, both independently and collectively within a team environment
- Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintain a safe and secure work environment
- Frequent contact with client personnel, external 3rd party contractors and vendors
Duties
- Ensure all personnel on site comply with Vantage Site Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Undertake external and internal patrols of the facilities in accordance with the daily patrol programme to record any irregularities, observe protection, uphold order, and enforce regulations for the facility regarding the premises, personnel and visitors
- Deny access of unauthorized individuals/vehicles
- Briefing the visitor/contractor on applicable security/safety procedures
- Ensure that all Security Shift documentation is completed, legible and accurate
- Ticketing of incoming alarms
- Monitor and respond to all alarms and emergency situations to maintain a safe and secure work environment
- Deter and/or report policy violations, malfunctioning equipment, and unsafe behaviours to the Security Supervisor
- Escalate any major issues to the Security Supervisor in line with policies and procedures
- Escort potential or existing clients, visitors and vendors as required
- Deal with customer questions in a prompt, courteous and professional manner
- Ensure the compliance of the Vantage Fire Policy and Fire Risk Assessment
- Facilitate the weekly fire alarm test and update logbook accordingly
- Act as the Chief Fire Marshal taking ownership and managing the situation when there is a fire evacuation
Job Requirements
- Experience of working in a physical security related role, preferably in a Data Centre or Critical Infrastructure environment
- Potential employees must complete a background check successfully and possess or be able to obtain SC Clearance
- Must possess or be able to obtain SIA certification
- Confident, calm decision maker when under pressure, even with incomplete or limited information
- Able to plan, organize and prioritize workload to meet short deadlines
- Able to work independently, with minimum guidance
- Experience in dealing with customer issues and problem solving
- May be required to complete formal training in an area of specialty
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office 365
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) particularly with team members, line management, contractors, and clients
- Work effectively across all teams and departments to achieve shared goals and deliver business objectives
- Employee must possess full driving license and reliable transportation for reporting to work or emergencies
- Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training purposes
