Position Overview

The Legal Counsel, Legal Leasing, EMEA is responsible for legal support of customer agreements in EMEA, including data centre leases, service agreements, and related documents. In addition to providing excellent legal expertise and support, the Legal Counsel, Legal Leasing, EMEA brings a proactive, business-minded, and solution-oriented approach to legal matters, a commercial lens, and a proven ability to work collaboratively across the organization. Ideal candidates for this role will have data centre expertise, in-house or law firm experience, strong business acumen, enterprise leadership, passion for growing a business, and experience in continuous improvement and driving enhancements that benefit the Company.

Essential Job Functions

  • Legal Guidance and Negotiation: Provide legal guidance and negotiation expertise for data centre transactions in EMEA. Draft and negotiate data centre agreements with hyperscale, large wholesale, and enterprise customers, including lease agreements, colocation agreements, development agreements, master service agreements, service orders, non-disclosure agreements, letters of intent, subordination, non-disturbance, and attornment agreements, tenant order forms, change orders, and related documents. Draft commencement notices, delay notices, and other correspondence relating to customer agreements. Prepare summaries and abstracts of customer agreements and provide guidance on the terms of customer agreements. Provide legal guidance with respect to compliance initiatives for customer agreements. Provide proactive and strategic-level advice that enables Vantage to achieve its business and strategic objectives while fully and appropriately managing and leveraging legal risk.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to gather input and consensus on technical, operational, and compliance aspects of data centre transactions. Serve as a strategic partner by providing practical, business-focused, and sound legal advice to EMEA Sales, Finance, Corporate Development, and Operations teams.
  • Contract Management and Compliance: Assist with the development of and updates to customer-related agreement templates and provide counselling on the use of such templates. Provide legal analysis of customer agreements in support of certain business development and financing transactions, including document review and due diligence. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to customer agreements.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Assist with legal matters involving customer relationships. Support the development, implementation, and management of methodology improvements in the customer negotiation process and resolve legal issues that arise in existing customer relationships. Support global legal strategy for customer agreements, including contract management and governance.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Qualified solicitor in England and Wales, ideally with 3–5 years’ PQE or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience: Experience within the data centre industry strongly preferred. Experience advising on, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, leases, service agreements, or other complex transaction documents. Experience handling complex contracts with detailed technical specifications. Experience managing and organizing large deals/projects simultaneously under deadline pressure. Working knowledge of commercial real estate.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and project management skills. Agile and adaptable to keep up with customer and business objectives, with a solution-oriented mindset. Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and the ability to foster/manage relationships across multiple departments. Comfortable working with technology, AI-enabled tools, dashboards, databases, and structured contract data. Practical, business-oriented approach to legal risk and contract compliance. Strong customer-service orientation and ability to support internal stakeholders with clarity and responsiveness. Ability to operate independently while staying closely aligned with the Legal Leasing team. Energized by building new processes, improving visibility, and helping a fast-growing global business scale responsibly.
