Principal Automation Operations Specialist in City of Westminster

Vantage is looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented, hands‑on Principal Automation Operations Specialist to lead software development for construction of existing and operational data center facilities. You will review controls design documents, and instrumentation diagrams to create and improve visualization applications for operational builds on a variety of system platforms. You will also be called on to troubleshoot existing automation systems in a live, mission-critical environment, lead controls relevant preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on newly built and operational mission critical data center infrastructure,

• Develop and deploy PLC and HMI applications for control system projects, with minimal supervision
• Complete PLC and HMI application modifications in an online, critical environment
• Lead remediation projects and maintenance tasks relating to the Building Automation System in collaboration with the Site Operations
• Troubleshoot and resolve PLC, SCADA, network and other critical control system issues during incidents
• Support the operations team with the automation infrastructure on controls relevant tasks including but not limited to health validation of hardware and software systems, alarm notification, data driven continuous improvement and functional logic of the BMS.

Duties

• Collaborate with members of the Design, Engineering, Operations Engineering team, and Site Operations team for sustaining existing automation architecture in operational buildings
• Coordinate integration support schedules, allowing for sufficient time to program, test, and commission mission critical control systems
• Lead design discussions with controls resources and equipment vendors to ensure the consistent approach with Vantage standard Controls Designs for all remedial and integration controls projects
• Examine project documents, including Sequences of Operation, Bill of Materials, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, and project schedules when developing automation logic and visualization applications for new build and remediation projects
• Support requests, support, change management and maintenance for the BAS/BMS Systems in all Vantage Operated buildings within EMEA
• Question the status quo, and think outside of the box to build ultra-reliable, ultra-efficient data center automation systems
• Support in the design of Controls Architecture Documents to include Networking Topology & IP Scheme for newly built and operational data centers
  Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics or equivalent work experience is preferred but not required
• 5 years of experience in Industrial Automation required, 7 to 9 years preferred
• Data Center commissioning experience is required
• Skilled at developing automation control logic and graphical templates from scratch, and performing full scale integration and integration testing
• Knowledge of automation systems (control loops, field IO, etc.) in a mission critical environment
• Advanced knowledge of Ignition (by Inductive Automation) is required
• Project and technical resource management is preferred but not required
• Travel required is expected to be 25% to 50% but may increase over time as the business evolves
