Vantage is looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented, hands-on Senior Automation Operations Specialist to support software development and continuous improvement for Vantage facilities. You will review value engineering options as well as the controls design documents to write/update logic control software and support data for visualization applications for new and existing builds on a variety of system platforms. You will also be called on to troubleshoot existing automation systems in a live, mission-critical environment, and complete startup, commissioning and validation procedures on new and existing mission critical data center infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and deploy PLC applications for control system projects, with minimal supervision.
- Complete PLC application modifications in an online, critical environment.
- Support site operations for remediation projects and maintenance tasks relating to the Building Automation System.
- Troubleshoot and resolve PLC, network and other critical control system issues during an incident.
- Support data center commissioning, operational and maintenance activities, including validation of hardware and software systems, alarming, data recovery, and functional logic.
- Collaborate with members of the Design, Engineering, and Construction team during projects, as well as members of the Operations Engineering team, and Site Operations team for sustaining existing automation architecture in commissioned buildings.
- Work with leading edge automation systems from large scale industrial controls vendors.
- Coordinate integration support schedules, allowing for sufficient time to program, test, and commission mission critical control systems.
- Lead design discussions with controls resources and equipment vendors to ensure the consistent approach with Vantage standard Controls Designs for all remedial and integration controls projects.
- Examine project documents, including Sequences of Operation, Bill of Materials, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, and project schedules when developing automation logic and visualization applications for greenfield and remediation projects.
- Support requests, support, change management and maintenance for the Ignition BMS SCADA in all Vantage Operated buildings.
- Question the status quo, and think outside of the box to build ultra-reliable, ultra-efficient data center automation systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics or equivalent work experience is preferred but not required.
- Industrial automation system commissioning experience is required.
- Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
- Skilled at developing automation control logic from scratch, and performing full scale integration and testing.
- Knowledge of automation systems (control loops, field IO, etc.) in a mission critical environment.
- Experience with industry leading software platforms for SCADA systems is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of industrial PLC systems manufactured by leading edge, large-scale vendors.
- Travel required is expected to be 25 to 50% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
