The Role
As Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for your own projects, working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, clients and the wider commercial team. This is an office-based position in the Manchester area, with occasional travel to project sites when required. Site travel is not expected to be frequent.
Key Responsibilities
- Take commercial ownership of assigned projects from commencement through to completion
- Manage project costs, cash flow and overall commercial performance
- Prepare and deliver monthly commercial and financial reports
- Manage project activity schedules and associated commercial documentation
- Identify and manage variations, risks and commercial opportunities
- Support project forecasting, cost control and financial planning
- Work closely with Project Managers and Engineering teams to ensure projects remain commercially viable
- Liaise directly with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders
- Support contractual and commercial matters throughout project delivery
- Attend client and project sites when required
About You
The business is open to candidates at a strong intermediate Quantity Surveyor through to Senior Quantity Surveyor level. The priority is finding someone who can confidently take responsibility for projects and operate as part of a collaborative team.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within an engineering, construction or M&E environment
- Strong Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) project experience
- Experience taking commercial responsibility for projects
- Strong understanding of project cash flow and cost management
- Experience producing monthly commercial reports
- Ability to manage project schedules, costs and commercial activity
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider commercial team
- Knowledge of NEC contracts
- Knowledge of JCT contracts
Desirable Experience
- Data Centre project experience
- Wider construction or groundworks experience
- Experience working directly with end clients
- Experience managing multi-million-pound projects
