Vantage Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a global building performance optimisation company operating across the UK and internationally, helping organisations improve energy efficiency, building performance and their transition towards net zero.

We are seeking an experienced Operations Support Engineer with a strong electrical installation or maintenance background to support a major commercial property portfolio across Central London.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for supporting the uptime and performance of metering, monitoring and building control systems across approximately 10 commercial buildings for a major Central London client. The role will typically involve 3 days per week on-site, providing technical support, fault diagnostics and coordinating maintenance activities, with the remaining 2 days working remotely or supporting other sites and projects. This is a varied position suited to someone who enjoys practical fault finding and wants to develop into a well-rounded Operations Engineer, gaining exposure across client support, service and new projects. There is also longer-term scope to take on greater responsibility and progress into a more senior position within the Operations team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain monitoring, metering and building control systems
  • Diagnose and resolve faults across Modbus connections, BMS integrations and metering systems
  • Provide client-facing technical support across a major Central London portfolio
  • Carry out practical electrical fault finding
  • Monitor system alerts across multiple building portfolios
  • Support field engineers and external contractors
  • Coordinate service visits, maintenance and remedial works
  • Assist with the delivery of new projects where required
  • Maintain ticketing systems and technical documentation
  • Provide day-to-day administration of energy management systems
  • Work closely with the wider Operations team to identify and resolve technical issues

The Ideal Candidate

  • City & Guilds Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent
  • Practical electrical installation experience, including working within switch rooms and live electrical environments
  • Maintenance or service engineering background
  • Strong practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently across customer sites
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • ECS Gold Card or equivalent would be beneficial
  • BMS / building controls knowledge would be beneficial
  • Experience with metering systems or Modbus would be beneficial
  • Networking / IT knowledge would be advantageous
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and technologies

Existing product knowledge isn't essential. Practical electrical experience, fault-finding ability and attitude are more important, with training provided on the company's systems and technology.

What's on Offer

  • £50K - £60K salary
  • Hybrid working (typically 3 days per week on-site, 2 days remote or supporting other projects)
  • Health insurance
  • Mental Health Leave
  • Product and systems training
  • Career development and progression opportunities
  • Opportunity to develop into a more senior Operations position
  • Exposure to a major Central London commercial property portfolio
  • Business travel outside the normal workplace covered by the company
  • Opportunity to join a growing international business focused on energy efficiency and building optimisation

A fantastic opportunity for an electrical installation, maintenance or service engineer looking to move into a broader Operations role, combining hands-on fault finding, building technology and client support with long-term career progression.
