We're looking for a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to develop their technical skills while working on clean and wastewater treatment projects.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers, supporting the design and delivery of mechanical solutions across a range of non-infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design of mechanical systems and equipment for clean and wastewater treatment projects.
Assist in producing mechanical design calculations, specifications, schedules, and drawings.
Help with equipment selection, preparing data sheets, and reviewing technical information.
Work closely with mechanical, civil, electrical, and process engineers to deliver coordinated design solutions.
Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, CDM regulations, and health and safety requirements.
Support site visits, inspections, commissioning activities, and technical investigations as required.
Learn from experienced engineers and contribute to continuous improvement within the design team.
Experience needed
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Around 1-3 years' experience in a mechanical design role, or strong placement/internship experience within engineering.
Experience working in the water industry Experience using CAD software (such as Auto CAD or Inventor) and an eagerness to develop your design skills.
A basic understanding of mechanical systems including pumps, pipework, valves, and rotating equipment.
Knowledge of engineering principles and a willingness to learn industry standards and regulations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
A proactive attitude, good attention to detail, and a desire to build a career in mechanical design
