We are recruiting on behalf of a growing Building Management Systems specialist delivering design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and support services across London and the South East. With a strong pipeline of secured work and ambitious growth plans, this business is looking to add a Trainee / Junior BMS Engineer to its team.

Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically or mechanically minded engineer to build a long-term career in Building Management Systems. The role will support service, maintenance, commissioning and small project works across a range of customer sites, with direct mentoring and structured development from an experienced BMS specialist.

The business is open to candidates from electrical maintenance, HVAC, building services, controls or junior BMS backgrounds, provided they have the right technical foundation, attitude and desire to develop within the BMS sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with service, maintenance and small project works on BMS and controls systems
  • Supporting commissioning and testing activities under senior engineer guidance
  • Attending customer sites across London and the South East
  • Helping diagnose BMS, controls and related electrical faults
  • Assisting with control panel modifications, wiring checks and remedial works
  • Producing service reports, site documentation and engineering records
  • Supporting project delivery and commissioning activities
  • Building strong relationships with clients, site teams and subcontractors

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in electrical engineering, maintenance, controls, HVAC, building services or a related technical environment
  • Good practical fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams or technical drawings
  • Basic understanding of electrical or control principles
  • Exposure to building services plant, control panels, HVAC systems or BMS-related environments would be advantageous
  • Keen to develop a long-term career in BMS / building automation
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable Skills

  • Previous exposure to BMS, HVAC controls or building controls
  • Experience working with AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, sensors, actuators or control panels
  • Familiarity with BMS platforms such as Trend, Tridium, Schneider, Siemens, Distech or Delta
  • Experience in electrical testing, commissioning support or control panel work
  • Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition, 2391, 2365, NVQ or equivalent BCIA modules or manufacturer training would be beneficial
