Location: The role is fully remote (home-based) with very occasional travel to other sites when requested. You will be working closely with Global R&D teams. Mission and responsibilities: We are seeking a highly talented and self-motivated Firmware Engineer to work in our Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SHEMS) team. You will be responsible for the design and development of embedded software which delivers value into our SHEMS products and services; And support the ongoing strategy of the business with technical analysis of upcoming projects to facilitate planning activities. You will be working within a multi-disciplined development team to: Develop efficient, high quality embedded software which satisfies the requirements and user stories defined by our business analysts and systems engineers. Ensure that the integrity of the embedded software architecture is maintained throughout the lifecycle of the product. Adopt in-house best practice for code integrity and design validation. Collaborate with other global teams to ensure the timely delivery of new products according to agreed timescales. Work with project management to support project planning and estimation. Qualifications: Proven skills in modern embedded C++ development Demonstrable experience in Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration and distributed revision control tools (such as Git) Experience with developing for containerised embedded Linux-based platforms such as Docker and microservice architectures. Preferably, experience of developing for low-power wireless comms, such as Zigbee, Wi-Fi and BLE. A degree in a STEM discipline such as Electronics, Computer Science, Maths or similar or equivalent experience. Able to demonstrate you are a natural collaborator, comfortable engaging proactively with teams across the business, with a successful track record of embedded software delivery. A professional attitude with excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively. You will have a passion for design excellence and demonstrate outstanding technical competence and willingness to take ownership
